In a Taekwondo bout, full protection is used to protect the competitors heads. To reduce any chance of a head injury, a competitor allowed to participate in a competition three months if he or she was knockedunconciousst by a blow to the head. If the same incident happens again after these three months, you’re not allowed to compete for six months. Another knockoutto the head after this six month period results in a final exclusion of competitions.

International Taekwondo Federation Tae kwon do is so-called semi-contact. It is not allowed to attack the head with full force. Still, it is allowed to throw punches to the head, using the so-called killing-blow, stop just an inch before the target. To avoid injuries, International Taekwondo Federation use gloves at sparring-competition.

Taekwondo is known for its sensational aerial kicks.
