A Brief History of Diecast Model Cars January 23, 2009

There is quite a long history of craftsmen building detailed miniature models of transport vehicles and machinery, but it was not until 1934 that die cast model cars and trucks arrived on the market in any great numbers.

At that time the replica cars and lorries were not looked on as collectible items in their own right - they were produced to lend extra realism to model railways.

Ever since the early nineteen twenties Frank Hornby had been making ever more complicated train sets. One of these sets, Meccano Set No 21, came complete with six die cast models, consisting of a motor truck, a sports coupe, a delivery van, a sports car, a farm tractor, and an Army tank. These were the first Dinky models, issued under the “Meccano Modelled Miniatures” label, as Set No. 22.

These early diecast models were fairly crude by modern standards, being cast from an alloy with high lead content which did not lend itself to a high level of detail. What’s more they did not try to depict real automobiles, although the sports car bore a resemblance to the S.S.1, a popular make of the period and a fore-runner of the Jaguar.

In terms of size, they weren’t well suited to the train sets which they were intended to adorn.

It soon became clear, however, that there was a healthy market for such models, and it wasn’t long before individual die cast replicas based on real cars and lorries were produced and sold separately. Dinky Set 30 was based on the Rolls Royce, Set 36A on the Armstrong Siddely, 36B a Bentley, and 36F was a Salmon sports car.

With the passage of time the quality of detail and reproduction greatly improved. The Dinky sets had diecast alloy bodies and tin plate radiators and rubber tyres. The later models also came with passengers and drivers. The Armstrong Siddely had a footman and chauffeur. Just before World War Two some superb military models were produced, including tanks with rotating turrets and catterpillar tracks.

Few models from that era have survived in good condition, and models in acceptable condition are extremely collectable - pre war Dinkies can command prices up to $1000 at auction.

In the nineteen fifties, new production techniques heralded a new era in the history of die-cast model cars. Lesney, famous for their splendid Coronation Coach, and Corgi, (”the ones with the windows”), entered the market to compete with Dinky.

This new generation of die cast vehicles, with better detail, finer running gear, and better color finish, brings us to the present day, where millions of precision die-cast replica models are produced, at very affordable prices for collectors. For example, just take a look at these diecast aircraft models. The diecast model car industry has come a long way since the nineteen thirties.

And, let’s not forget, eBay can be a terrific source for those hard-to-find, rare die-cast replicas: classic diecast auctions.

Cellular phones are now a very valuable convenience for people in almost every area of today’s world. Today, cellular phones not only serve communication purposes, they also provide many entertainment and other features. It is common for mobile phone users to acquire ring tones, screensavers, and wallpapers over the net.

People desire their favorite music on cell phones. Indeed the newest and fastest growing feature available nowadays is downloadable ring tones. There are other downloadable items available on the Web, like Java games, wallpapers and screen savers but the most popular item requested is downloadable ring tones. Downloadable ring tones were originally an engineering student’s good idea.

A ring tone is, of course, the sound that a cellular phone makes when it’s rings. There are many types of ring tones available like polyphonic ring tones, monophonic ring tones, and the most popular MP3 format. However, the new technologies like 3G also bring true music to your mobile phone.  Monophonic ring tones are basically a one note ringer format which is not so popular these days. Originally cell phones were only capable of playing monophonic ring tones. Almost all cell phones come with their own ring tones. However, a recent study shows that about ninety-two percent of cell phone owners have downloaded a desired ring tone that did not originally come with their phone. Many mobile phone users want to have the latest music on their cell phones, and this has caused the ring tone industry to grow rapidly.  Though most ring tone providers charge fees there are deals available to the savvy ring tone hunter.

Fashionable smart mobile phone sets and diverse popular ring tones have become status symbols. Ring tone choice shows that you’re up to date and happening. By choosing a ring tone which best suits your personality you can truly display your lifestyle and certainly your musical taste on your sleeve.  You’ll find many sites offering tones by today’s hottest musicians. You have a choice to pick monophonic, polyphonic or true tone MP3 formats. The first thing you need to know before you select, buy and download a suitable ring tone is that your cell phone supports that particular format. The mobile phone that you purchased just a year ago may not have features to play latest ring tone currently available. So make sure from your cell phone manual or call your service provider for guidance.

Many websites offer samples of each musical ring tone so that you are able to know which type of music you’ll want to use on your cell phone. Polyphonic ring tones use midi technology. Polyphonic ring tones, with their richer tonal qualities, sound better than monophonic tones. But, when compared to MP3’s, even polyphonic tones sound pretty weak. The future of sound for ring tones indeed seems to be hi-fi quality digital musical formats.

The Experts in Debt Management January 23, 2009

Those who work as debt management experts specialized in this study or practice when they were still in school. They spend years perfecting their craft which in this case is debt management. Debt Management experts know what they are doing in all actuality and are smart enough to know and differentiate what your intentions actually are.

However, not everything can be learned from books. Therefore the best debt management experts can be regarded as experts in the field if they themselves have used whatever it is they learned in their own lives and financial experiences and have passed these learning on to their children. They have developed the best debt elimination plans to help you get out of debt.

Those who actually do it are the experts, and they are the ones that we need to learn from to avoid having to visit with a well-educated debt management expert because we have gotten ourselves into financial hot water and we need to know about the best debt elimination plans.

Debt Management experts have but many things in common. They don’t all do things exactly the same way, of course, but the structure in which they manage their finances and the debt elimination plans they use are basically the same.

1. They know how to save. Those people who know how to save very rarely get into financial trouble. Sure, they can. Life can throw some pretty hard curve balls….the loss of a job or a major illness. But unless their financial trouble is caused by an outside force they will not get themselves in debt up to their eyeballs.

2. They live by the things that they can afford. They do not base their spending upon what their friends have. The neighbors might buy a new car, but that will have no bearing upon whether they do or not.

3. They know how to work on their budget. Not only do they have budgets, but they live within the constraints of that budget. They do not make impulse buys. If asked, they could tell you how much is spent each month on food, shelter, clothing, utilities, and transportation.
